The Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) is strengthening its commitment to sustainability and a responsible approach to the environment. A key role in this process is played by the Sustainability Manager, whom has become Jaroslav Pašmik.

Roles and responsibilities

The Sustainability Manager of VŠE, in cooperation with the university leaderhip, plans, coordinates, leads and controls the implementation of the VŠE Sustainability Strategy. His task is to fundamentally contribute to the fulfillment of the VŠE vision and to ensuring that sustainability becomes part of the main functions of the university, such as teaching, research, operations, health and well-being of students and employees, or cooperation with the university community.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Development and implementation of the goals of the VŠE Sustainability Strategy.
  • Close coordination with the Rector, Vice-Rectors, Bursar, Deans of Faculties and other key actors.
  • Support for the implementation of measures leading to a reduction in the university’s ecological footprint.
  • Motivating students and employees to actively participate in sustainable projects.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impacts of sustainable measures, communicating the results to the university management and, in cooperation with the PR of VSE, to other internal stakeholders and the public.

Secretary of the VSE Eco Team

Part of his agenda as a sustainability manager is also the role of secretary of the VSE Eco Team, where he ensures administrative support, coordination and supervision of the fulfillment of sustainability goals. Thanks to his expertise and experience, he will play an important role in achieving the prestigious international Green Flag award within the EcoCampus system.
